Vintage black and white Staffordshire style dogs

A charming pair of small vintage spongeware Staffordshire-style dogs (right and left facing). Modeled after King Charles Spaniel which was a favourite of Queen Victoria.  Fabulous as mantel decor or perched on top of a stack of books. 

Featuring hand painted faces with sponged black spots and sporting yellow collars. Staffordshire figurines were popular mantel decor in the Victorian era. These dogs appear to date to the early 20th century. 

4” tall x 2”wide base. Air holes on base. 

As found, in lovely condition with crazing.
