An exquisite and unique 19th-century French Majolica match striker. The ribbed interior accommodates strike-anywhere matches, while the lower tray collects spent sticks. Hand-glazed in jewel hues—deep indigo, warm tortoiseshell mottling, and soft lavender pink.
3.5" tall, 1.5" diameter opening and 4.5" diameter base.
As found, In lovely antique condition. There is a faint hairline mark on the glaze of the base that is old and appears to be superficial. Some light crazing on bottom tray.
